I have tried out the close-up len with my Sony Cybershot DSC-H1. It is like a dream comes true. Now I am able to take very close picture of tiny fiddler crab. Below is the picture of my favorite fiddler crab. See the three dots on its back? Look like a face, isn’t it? So cute.. I also have taken many photos of other fiddler crabs. They got red, yellow, orange, blue, green, black, white, brown and purple colors. I have written an article about fiddler crabs of mangrove forest and will send it to the local newspaper tomorrow (hope they will post it). I would like the public to see the beauty of these crabs and know the importance of protecting our mangrove forest, the home of these beautiful creatures.

wow. i’ve been to mangrove forest a few times. I never actually knew there were such beauty in those places. Maybe, i will try to observe more in the future.
You can find more fiddler crabs near the river bank area. The area deep inside the mangrove forest is usually dominated by mud crabs.
Fiddler crabs got excellent eye sight. They will hide when they see you 15 feet away. If you see many burrows, you can stand there and wait for 1 minute. They will come out.
Sometimes I even bring a small chair, sit there and wait for them.
where do you take this pictures? is it at the likas wetlands area?
The photos were taken in KK City Bird Sanctuary. I am already so familiar with that place and can become your tour guide to tell you where to find what plant and what animal.. 🙂
then mr smokehead, you should take up diving, i can be your tour guide around the sabah park islands. but be warned, the water proff seal for digital cameras are usually costing rm 800 to 1k.
Yes, the waterproof kit can work until the depth of 20 Meters.. is it enough? Anyway, there is no such seal for my camera model so far.
20 meters? not really enough, usually the kits are tested for 60-80 meters.
