Day 4 in Maliau Basin: tea-color stream in the trail between Nepenthes Camp (formerly Camel Trophy Camp) and Ginseng Camp. The water is rich in Humic acids that is difficult to degrade so it remains in the river. Humic acids, produced by, & washed from, the very slowly decaying leaf litter beneath the heath forests & highest montane forest. |
